Overview of the Legacy Corps

The Legacy Corps, made up of representatives from student organizations and student members, will operate as the student heart of the MLK Living Legacy Committee. To support the programs and activities of students living Dr. King’s legacy, members of the Corps will be awarded Dream Grants, which will be awarded through an application process.

The Legacy Corps shall operate as the subcommittee to the MLK Living Legacy Committee on the matter of allocating resources. The Corps director will oversee the process and represent the results.

mlk2012Membership of the Legacy Corps

If the following guidelines are met, any university recognized student organization, or any individual student, who explicitly supports Dr. King’s values of social justice and racial equality in their mission statement or activities may be granted membership to the Legacy Corps.

To become a member:

  • A representative of an organization, or an individual student, must attend three consecutive meetings and be approved by current committee members, pending a majority vote.
  • Each organization will select one delegate to represent its organization. This delegate will act as the voting member of the committee.

Any delegate or individual who misses three or more consecutive meetings will lose voting privileges and his/her membership will be revoked. Revoked membership can be reinstated if the above requirements are met. Membership will be recorded and communicated by the administrative support staff for the MLK Living Legacy Committee.
